I’ve been hoping for a food processor attachment for the Vitamix Ascent series for years, and now it’s finally here! When you think of Vitamix, you usually think of blenders, but this new attachment expands their functionality significantly. It’s about time they did this! With this attachment, you can chop, slice, shred, and mix, and it comes with three pieces that accomplish five different tasks. You really can’t go wrong with this purchase.
Storage is a breeze since everything fits together neatly. Hats off to Vitamix—we used this to streamline the tamale prep I mentioned in another review, and it cut down the preparation time considerably. Assembly and disassembly are straightforward, and it’s easy to clean. I wish I could share more pictures of other things I made, like shaved ice. Just check the recipe book for ideas!
To describe it, imagine a snow cone; I scooped it into a ball and drizzled cherry flavor over it. This attachment performs just like any other food processor, but with the power of a Vitamix blender, you get unbeatable consistency. I’m retiring my old food processor because this one does it all. It’s going to save me so much countertop space and even create some extra room in my closet. Goodbye, old food processor, and hello, Vitamix!
It has a nice weight to it, and it’s important to ensure everything is tightly sealed; otherwise, it won’t start. I appreciate this feature because it guarantees that nothing will spill during use. You can keep the container base on the Vitamix and easily scoop out contents using one hand while removing the container with the other. Most parts are dishwasher safe, too. Be sure to check the instruction manual for more details. Note that this attachment only works with blenders that have the self-detect feature.

This food processor attachment is fantastic. You not only get the high quality that Vitamix is known for, but also the impressive power of your Vitamix blender.
I did encounter a minor issue at first, which I think might confuse anyone using a Vitamix Ascent 3500 with the app. When you attach this food processor to the Vitamix base, a message appears stating “Unsupported container placed on blender.” I found myself flipping through the instructions to see if I was doing something wrong.
Eventually, I realized this message likely appears because there are no recipes in the app for the food processor. I came to this conclusion since the image of the blender in the app does display the food processor when it is connected, as shown in the pictures I included in this review.
The blade attachments are quite sharp, so exercise caution while handling them, but rest assured this device excels at slicing and dicing. I used it to make a delicious pico de gallo and an outstanding coleslaw that easily surpassed any store-bought version.
Overall, this product has outperformed our old food processor, which we have since given away, as this one does everything our previous model did and more. I highly recommend this attachment if you’re looking for a food processor.

This attachment makes your Vitamix incredibly versatile. Some users may experience issues with the device not recognizing the attachment; ensuring the lid is securely closed can help it function properly. One downside is that there’s only one speed, which isn’t adjustable. While the storage options are excellent, the attachment is quite bulky. Be cautious when grating hard cheeses, as the lid can come off unexpectedly. Cleaning can also pose a challenge, but you can detach the cup from the black base for easier cleaning. Just be aware that the bowl and lid can scratch easily, so it’s best to use a non-abrasive sponge to keep them looking pristine.

We needed a food processor and stumbled upon this one while searching online. Since we already owned an Ascent 3500, we decided to give it a try. Wow! It performs just as well, if not better, than a standalone machine. All the blades and accessories store neatly inside (see picture). I would highly recommend it for anyone who has a Vitamix Ascent series!

I recently added the Vitamix 12-cup Food Processor attachment to my Vitamix Ascent 3500 blender, and it has been a fantastic solution for my kitchen needs. I was in search of a food processor but didn’t have much space for additional appliances in my cabinets or on the counter. When I discovered this attachment, I was hopeful it could solve my dilemma, and it certainly has.
To put it to the test, I decided to make some ingredients for tacos, which was a perfect opportunity to shred cheese, shred iceberg lettuce, and dice tomatoes. The attachment consists of several parts, similar to a traditional food processor: a base that rests on the blender, a bowl that clicks into the base, a lid, and both large and small plungers. The assembly was straightforward, and I recommend carefully reading the instructions, as the diagrams were very helpful. I also learned that the Ascent blender automatically recognizes the food processor base, which is a nice feature. Once assembled, the attachment was quite tall, so I had to pull it out from under my cabinets to use it, but that’s to be expected.
There are various blade options available: a traditional spinning blade (Multi-Use Blade) and two shredding/slicing disc blades. Each disc blade has a different pattern on either side, giving you a total of four options: thin slice, small shred, thick slice, and large shred. This variety is more than sufficient for my needs. I also appreciate the built-in safety measures; the unit won’t operate unless the bowl lid and large plunger are properly attached, which is reassuring for someone like me who is still learning to cook.
Once everything was in place, I was ready to start. To use the Multi-Use blade, I simply loaded the food into the bowl and pressed “pulse” or “start/stop” until I achieved the desired consistency. The disc slicers operate like those on traditional food processors, and I used the plungers to feed items into the discs. There’s a large plunger for bigger items and a small one inside it for smaller additions. I did find that practice makes perfect; for instance, I initially used the “small shred” disc for the lettuce, which resulted in it being shredded too finely. I then switched to the “large shred,” which worked perfectly. Shredding cheese was also a breeze, and chopping tomatoes was incredibly easy with just a few pulses.
Cleaning was a cinch too, as all the processor parts, except for the base attachment, are dishwasher safe. I simply loaded them in after use and was done in no time. For storage, all the components stack neatly together like Russian nesting dolls, and there’s a separate holder for the disc blades, making it easy to store in a cabinet without taking up much space—definitely smaller than a full food processor.
In summary, this attachment is an excellent choice for anyone looking to save kitchen space or simply needing a food processor. After a bit of experimentation, it performed beautifully. Plus, it’s easy to clean and store. I’m really pleased with my purchase and excited to see what other innovative attachments Vitamix may introduce in the future.

Just when you think your Vitamix Ascent blender can’t improve, the 12-cup Food Processor attachment comes along and changes everything. I initially believed my blender could handle many of these tasks, alongside a standard food processor, but I quickly realized I was mistaken. The Vitamix 12-cup Food Processor attachment has made my meal prep even easier and more efficient, all while cutting down on clutter and simplifying cleanup at the end of the day. In my experience, Vitamix consistently delivers high-quality products, and this attachment is no exception. As I noted in my Vitamix Ascent 3500 review, investing in these tools elevates your cooking skills in ways that are hard to put a price on. If you own a compatible Ascent series blender, this durable food processor will serve you well for years, expanding what you can do with your blender. You can’t go wrong with this purchase.

The 12-cup Vitamix Food Processor Attachment is an excellent companion for our new Vitamix Ascent blender. It significantly enhances the range of foods we can prepare beyond what the blender alone offers. For those of us with limited counter space, it’s fantastic to combine two appliances into one. When not in use, it stacks neatly for easy storage in a cabinet.
This food processor attachment includes all the essential components: a self-detect base that connects to the blender motor, a work bowl, a versatile S-shaped blade, a snap-on lid, and both small and large food pushers. Additionally, it comes with two reversible slicing and shredding discs, clearly labeled for easy identification. These discs have a dedicated storage container that attaches to the processor when disassembled, along with convenient finger holes for safe handling.
Once assembled, all parts fit together securely, eliminating any squeaks or looseness when maneuvering. Except for the self-detect base, all components are dishwasher safe, though I find hand cleaning to be quick and simple.
When connecting the processor to the blender motor, it automatically recognizes it. At this point, only the pulse and on/off buttons are operational; the pre-set programs and variable speed functions are disabled, as the food processor operates at a single speed as intended.
Vitamix also includes a compact recipe book that showcases the variety of dishes that can be created with the food processor. Our first test was grating cheese and potatoes, which yielded perfect results in mere seconds. I can finally retire my hand grater, which has been tough on my fingers.
Next, we crafted homemade coleslaw, slicing red and green cabbage and carrots effortlessly. The speed and ease surpassed anything store-bought. We achieved perfectly even slices of cucumber, zucchini, squash, and carrots, ensuring even cooking with minimal pressure needed to feed food into the chute.
We even ventured into new territory, making salmon burgers with fresh salmon using the multi-use blade. This attachment has opened our eyes to countless culinary possibilities we never thought we could create at home. We’re excited to try making our own pizza dough and various types of bread.
We are certain we’ll be utilizing this product frequently. It’s well-constructed, thoughtfully designed, and operates quietly. I wholeheartedly recommend this attachment to anyone with a Vitamix Ascent blender.

The Vitamix has become even more essential in my kitchen. This blender excels at a variety of tasks, but while it can handle chopping and mixing dough in a pinch, it’s not its primary function. A food processor is specifically built for these jobs, making tasks like cutting butter into flour for biscuits or pie dough effortless. The attachment saves space and maximizes the powerful motor of the Ascent 3500 series. The base automatically detects the attachment and disables the blender programs, adding to its convenience. It pureed tough pork for my terrine without any issues, a task where meat typically gets stuck around the blades and strains the motor. I also grated cheese and various vegetables with ease, without any mess, overheating, or complications.
What I love most about this food processor attachment is how it all snaps together—there’s no twisting the lid on! The base connects with a sturdy metal latch, and when it’s time to clean, just push down the latch and it pops off effortlessly. For storage, the entire unit, including the cover and blades, snaps together and can be flipped in on itself, unlike standard food processors that have separate trays for blades, wasting space. Overall, this is a brilliant addition that enhances an already fantastic blender.
